Mayor Manny Diaz and Commissioner Johnny Winton, as well as planning industry officials, are to discuss Miami 21, a plan the city describes as based on new urbanism and smart growth principles.
Aspects of the plan include economic development, parks and public places, transportation, historic preservation and arts and culture.
Speakers are to include Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; Richard M. Rosan, president of the Urban Land Institute; Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, principal of Duany Plater-Zyberk & Co.; and Carol Coletta, executive director of the Mayors' Institute on City Design.
The Miami-Dade College campus is at 300 N.E Second Ave., and the conference center is in building 3, room 3210.
